Here's a whole bunch of "age insults" that can be chosen to incorporate into your own poem

(Birthday poem verse # 1)
Heartiest congratulations (Bill) (husband), dear
On reaching the big (Five) (Six)-O
You've been a dynamic whirlwind all your life
But now you're running slow

To my "lets go upstairs and make passionate love"
You used to bound up with glee
Now it's "I can't do stairs and passion  ..
You'll have to choose which one it's to be"

You used to be insatiable
You were always there on cue
Now the expression "all nighter" means
Not getting up for the loo

As for the fact you're thinning
That's hardly fair
You're not folically challenged
You've just outgrown your hair

Lots of folk have 40 winks
That's a natural response
You do that and read the paper
While watching telly, all at once

So it's OK for you to slow down
You're getting older, after all
It's time for you to invest in a pipe
Some slippers and a shawl

The clues that you're getting old
Are there (Bill) it's true
Your belt won't buckle any more
But your knees most certainly do

You've entered your 70th decade
But you look good all the same
Who cares if your hair is thin and grey
And you'll suit a Zimmer frame

We've been together since we were young
We're now getting old, and how
The fire is still within us
We just call it heartburn now

Now you've reached this old old age
Don't start to dye your hair
Don't think of having face lifts
And don't change the clothes you wear

Don't modify your language
Don't rebel and cause outrage
Decide to do the decent thing
Just lie about your age

Anyway you're not at all like a (50) year old
And I mean what I say
Mind you, being a (Jim Reeves) fan
Is a dead giveaway

Enough of all these insults
I do hope you realise
How highly you’re respected
How kind you are, and wise

God bless you on your birthday
Let the celebrations start
Enjoy life’s oh so precious gifts
And remain young at heart.

For age is just a state of mind
And life can be such fun
And you still know how to party
As much as anyone

So let's make this a memorable occasion
In every single way
And I'll be there to help you
Ensure it's a wonderful day

The love of friends and family
Will be with you today
So enjoy the many wishes
Which are bound to come your way

Let your (50th) (60th) Birthday
Be the best one of your life
...so far..
This comes with love from (Name)
Your best friend and wife

TOAST TO A FRIEND CELEBRATING A BIG-O BIRTHDAY
(Birthday Poem Verse # 1)
Heartiest congratulations (Name)
On reaching the big (Four)-O
You've had a very hard and gruelling life
And Boy!  does it show

So we asked the "Ten Years Younger" lass
If she could see her way clear
To make a programme about you
And I've got her reply right here

(Open envelope as if seeing letter for first time)

Dear Jon
I've studied the pics you sent me
And what is very clear
We're very good at what we do
But we're not that good, dear

There's not enough surgeons in this world
I don't wish to be mean
But have you considered a quick sand blast
Some glue and plasticine

And Jon, please don't read this out aloud
Lest it might offend
Oh!     (pause)
Folks let's raise our glasses for a toast
To (Name) our very...very old friend

With advancing years you've gained understanding
That can't be denied
We couldn't have insulted you any more
But believe us, (Name), we tried

Birthday Poem Verse Quote # 5
(40th) Birthday

In cricket, what's a nothing score?
The answer's not hard
You've reached the score of (Four) Nothing
Hence (four) ducks on your card

The words thirty, forty, fifty etc...are not good for rhyming but when used as "the big three-O", "four-O", "five-O" and so on, the rhyming possibilities greatly increase. The -oe- sound has lots of simple rhyming words/expressions like ago, get-up-and-go, from-top-to-toe, show, slow and so on

Birthday Poem Verse Quote # 12
Congratulations Mummsie
It's time to be running slow
After all, you're now an OAP
Having reached the big Six-O

It's time you put your feet up
To ease arthritic pains
Not lugging heavy luggage
On and off jet aeroplanes

It's time for shawl and slippers
And a touch of blue rinse/bleach
Not lying about half naked
On a foreign holiday beach

But as it's your birthday
You're entitled to get tipsy
A very happy birthday, Mum
You geriatric gypsy

Congratulations, Billy
You've reached the big "Four-O"
You were born in the last millennium
So that's a long, long time ago

While on numbers, it is useful to use, for example, 39 for anyone over 40:-

Happy Birthday (Billy)
And my, don't you look fine
Given your advancing years
Fast approaching 39

Or

You've outgrown my lap, but not my heart
O (Maureen) daughter of mine
Growing up's for trees, so why not stay
Forever 39

Or use the same approach for, not just the recipient's age but the sender's, as well:-

You're (24) already, (son)
Nearly over the hill, oh my
And as you face advancing years
Unfortunately, so do I

So let's make a deal together
We'll use the same party line
You're a smidgin' over 21   (You're a little under 21)
I'm a tad over 39   (I'm not quite 39)

And bringing Granny into the ruse

I heard about your mother's deal
I'll go along with it, that's fine
Now, raise your arm and swear this oath
"My Grandma's 59"

Please pass on my best wishes to the person you know who is about to celebrate an 18th 21st 30th 40th 50th 60th 70th 80th 90th 100th birthday. Call again and perhaps it might be a good idea to add my homepage to your Favourites
