Poems and Readings for a Funeral
They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sunlight on them, nor any heat. for the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of water; and God shall wipe out every tear from their eyes. Revelation; 7:16-17

God be in my head and in my understanding, God be in my eyes and in my looking, God be in my mouth and in my speaking, God be in my heart and in my thinking, God be at mine end and at my departing.

Grieve not; though the journey of life be bitter, and the end unseen, there is no road which does not lead to an end. Hafiz

Poems and Readings for a Funeral
Sunlight streams through window pane onto a spot on the floor... then I remember,it's where you used to stand, when you came through that door.
Our feet walk down a hall of carpet and muted echoes sound.... then I remember, It's where you would always jump around
A voice is heard along the road, and up beyond the hill then I remember it can't be yours.... your golden voice is still.
But I'll take that vacant spot of floor and empty muted hall and lay them with the absent voice and unused books along the wall
I'll wrap these treasured memorials in a blanket of my love and keep them for my best friend until we meet above.

Man is only a reed, the weakest thing in nature- but a thinking reed. It does not take the universe in arms to crush him; a vapour, a drop of water, is enough to kill him. But though the universe could crush him, man would still be nobler than his destroyer, because he knows that he is dying, that the universe has an advantage of him; the universe knows nothing of this. Blaise Pascal

Funeral Blues- Made popular by the movie, "Four Weddings and a Funeral"
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone, Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone, Silence the pianos and with muffled drum Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead. Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves, Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
He was my North, my South, my East and West, My working week and my Sunday rest, My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song; I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now; put out every one, Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun, Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods; For nothing now can ever come to any good. W.H. Auden
